Artist Liv Buranday, a Philippines-based nursing student, came with a very original idea of art. As she watched her dad one motning drinking his coffee, she came up with the idea of creating illustrations using ground coffee.

In order to create an illustration, she uses her hands and a toothpick to give a precise shape to the coffee granules. In some of her works, she adds 3D elements, such as leaves, sticks, little flowers or even drawings of her own. The result? A short little story, in which are starring all sorts of adorable and well-known characters.

To emphasize them, all these creations are made on a white background, then photographed and shared on her Instagram. As a funny story, she said that lately she started using glue for the coffee beans, because her “patience was really tested” with all of the loose granules all over the place.
