Hublot Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Chrono: The Official Watch Of 2014 Brazil World Cup
The new edition of soccer World Cup is on our doorstep and Hublot, the official timekeeper for the competition celebrates the upcoming Fifa event in a big way. On Thursday, March 13, 2014, in Tokyo, Japan, Hublot has revealed the event’s official watch: the Big Bang Unico Chrono Bi-Retrograde. This special timepiece features a specially-built mechanism specifically optimized to keep track of a match’s time with a bi-retrograde display built around the timing of one half of a soccer match. A smaller dial at 6 o’clock shows a traditional clock for keeping time off the field.
Powered by the new caliber HUB1260 movement, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Chrono Bi-Retrograde features the national colors of the 2014 World Cup’s host country, Brazil: the minutes retrograde display and hand are yellow, while the seconds retrograde display and hand are green. This special edition watch, specially designed for the world of football, comes with a black textured rubber strap and a black titanium PVD folding clasp.
The Swiss luxury watchmaker has introduced two versions of the model: the King Gold 18K ($42,400), produced in a limited edition of 100 watches and the black ceramic version ($26,300), 200 of which were produced.
Considering the price and the characteristics of the “Soccer Bang”, this upscale, opulent watch seems to be designed more for the managers, referees and players than for mere fans.
