Nature can truly be an amazing inspiration source and Grace Ciao’s floral fashion illustrations prove it. Grace, a 22-year-old student from Singapore works as a freelancer, creating fashion designs for everyday clothing as well as bridal wear and haute couture. She was able to create gorgeous and unbelievable sketches using real flower petals instead of ink, pencils or watercolors.

Speaking about her unique creative process, Ciao says that flowers “help me create prints which I otherwise couldn’t have thought of” and “petals work really well for illustration also because their delicacy and exquisiteness mimic those of a soft fabric.”

Involving fresh flower petals in her drawings, Grace Ciao has taken the traditional fashion sketch a step further. The colorful petals blend perfectly together with line illustrations to produce a new kind of trend where bodices and flowing skirts are beautifully connected to nature. Not only do they serve as substitutes for lines and colors, but they also introduce their own unique textures and forms and the way she skillfully puts them in each drawing makes them look like they never belonged any where else besides the illustration.

If you love flowers, fashion or just beautiful images, you’ll definitely enjoy Gracie Ciao’s work.
