The Cloud lamp is an interactive lamp and speaker system, designed to mimic a thundercloud in both appearance and entertainment, created by multidisciplinary designer Richard Clarkson based in New York and New Zealand.

Packed with several multicolor lights, as well as motion sensors and speakers, all of which work in unison to bring a “storm” into your home, this creative audiovisual fixture is created using felted hypoallergenic fiberfill formed into a sponge casing. A remote control allows user to set it to different modes, getting it to act like a simple thunder cloud, to respond to movements in its surroundings, or to respond to sounds or music that it hears around it. The Cloud can even stream music via any Bluetooth-compatible device, making it a useful speaker in addition to a unique work of “smart” art.

The lamp it’s seen by its creators as an effort to assist in the development of the design industries, so they let the code behind the Cloud open to the public to use and even improve upon.

If you want one in your home, you can buy the smart version for the price of $ 3,360. A lamp-only edition is also available for the price of $960 – both at Richard Clarkson’s online store.  And if you’re budget it’s big enough, you could take a load of them and make a sky in your bedroom.
