Although doubtless nobody expected to find him venturing into this field, about a year ago, Romain Gauthier, release a collection of watches entitled The Logical One Secret, the most expensive watches of his kind so far. In fact, it was so extraordinary that it went on to win the prize for the Best Men’s Complications Watch at the 2013 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, defeating pieces from Greubel Forsey, Hublot, Montblanc and others.

The Logical one Secret’s fully integrated cover sensually follows the form of the sapphire crystal underneath to create a canvas for artists of many mediums, e.g. gem setting, guilloche, miniature painting, enameling, engraving to ‘paint’.
A gentle squeeze on the integrated pusher lifts the cover, revealing the intricate complexity of Logical One Secret. It comes with triple patent-pending flat chain-and-fusee style constant force system with ruby chain links, ergonomic push button winding system and 60-hour power reserve indicator. The technical specifications are absolutely mind blowing. The case of the watch is made of red gold or platinum with an elegant top cover. Its dimensions are very delicate: 43mm x 15.9mm. The straps and buckle are made of pure alligator leather, hand-stitched in Switzerland with pin buckle in metal in order to match the case.
The stars of this watch, the diamonds totaling 7 carats, were meticulously set by the artisans at the Atelier Bunter in Geneva.

By creating this watches, Romain Gauthier achieved his goals:  “I wanted to create a model with literally no limits in terms of the artistic work involved. That’s why I developed this watch with a cover that in a certain way may be seen as celebrating the union of a pocket watch and a wristwatch.”

With the Secret, Romain Gauthier offers to women a very high-level introduction to the world of Haute Horlogerie. It also takes a serious financial bet, as such a piece with a total of a little less than 200 diamonds is very expensive to produce, with no guarantee of sell.
