Beautiful Retro Timer Wristwatch By Eley Kishimoto For Fossil
Retro Timer is a beautiful wristwatch created by London-based fashion studio Eley Kishimoto and American clothing brand Fossil who, united by their mutual love for pattern and color, teamed-up for a multi-product project that includes bags, wallets, soft goods and watches.
Designed to look like those large clocks we all remember from our grandmoms’ kitchens, analogue kitchen timers and ‘50s alarm clocks, the Retro Timer features a large hand to indicate the hours, while the traditional minute hand has been replaced by a rotating red aluminum disc. The mid-century optimism that defined the decade shines through in this timepiece’s cheerful colors and simple forms. The face of the watch mimics the look of a kitchen timer while the luxe leather band giving it timeless wearability.
In order to produce Eley Kishimoto’s design, Fossil had to develop a new kind of watch movement to make the disc rotate independently. Eley Kishimoto, co-founder Mark Eley, commented, “We started to have a conversation about how we can use the red disc somehow, and then just put a point on the red disc to have it as the minutes. We developed, by happy accident, a new way of telling time.”
The unisex timepiece features a leather strap, rubber indexes and 38-by-38-millimetre injection-moulded nylon case and is available in three color combinations: white/brown, black/black and turquoise/white.
The Retro Timer wristwatch by Eley Kishimoto and Fossil has the perfect amount of retro charm that’s both mid-century yet so of-the-moment. Check it out.
