RiverBanks, A Contemporary Weekend Home With A Rustic Cabin-Like Feel
Imagine if money were no object … what would be your perfect place? Forget practicality and real life for a moment and think about your dream home. Can’t quite picture it?
Take a look at this weekend home designed by Fauzia Khanani of Foz Design and you will surely be inspired. Nestled along the banks of the Hudson River in the central Hudson Valley, this ground-up custom home is modern yet warm, with a rustic cabin-like feel. The home was designed for a New York City-based couple that wanted a weekend place where they could host friends and family.
Dubbed RiverHouse, this contemporary weekend home hints at mid-century modern day with its clean lines, but has a warm come to feel as it is clad in normal wood.
Highlights include the living area, with its soaring 20-foot ceilings and cantilevered decks offering views of the river and surrounding landscape, as well as furnishings that make it welcoming and cozy. Massive windows frame the natural terrain outside, while providing the interior with lots of natural daylight.
The third floor encompasses a suite for the owners, complete with a home office and deck that evokes the feeling of being in a tree house. A guest wing dedicated to the remaining four bedrooms is accessible through a glassed-in hallway—also referred to as “the bridge,” given that it is situated among trees and water. The landscape design and pool area also play off the surroundings and are the finishing touches on the house design.
In the guest room, another beautiful and creative design detail can be found: two twin beds were made with a blackened steel dovetail detail on the headboard and the footboard. The bed can be pushed together or separated depending on the guests they’re having.
As we all know, nothing speaks better than a picture so take a look to the image gallery below with the beautiful contemporary weekend home designed by Foz Design and imagine how it would be to live there.
