Tom’s Hut By Studio Raumhochrosen, A Minimalist Cabin In The Woods
Designed by the Austrian architecture studio raumhochrosen as a place of relaxation for his owner, a singer-songwriter and a ‘mental coach’, and known as Tom’s Hut, this minimalist cabin in the woods is located in the forest of Wienerwald, Austria.
The cabin follows the contour of a previous, decaying building, connecting with the environment through a minimalist approach. With a brick foundation, a prefabricated wooden structure (inside and out, the timber is left natural, so as to keep the design as close to nature as possible) and metal to cover the roof and wood store, Tom’s Hut perfectly fits into the landscape. The remote site is rustic, not entirely cleared and finished with just a hammock, a fire pit, and a picnic area.
The interior design is minimalist and contemporary with large openings and clean lines marked by black metal. The use of furniture is minimal, providing at the same time everything you need in a such a confined space. A particular standout is the wall-to-wall viewing window paired with a built-in seat and storage.
